This Acceptable Use and Fair Play Policy forms part of the Terms of Service of Play SC:BW (the "Service"). Capitalised terms have the meaning given there. It applies to everything you do on or in connection with the Service, including in games, chat, profiles, handles, reports, competitions and communications with us.
The lists below are illustrative, not exhaustive. We alone decide, at our sole discretion, whether conduct breaches this Policy, and we may act against conduct that is within its spirit even if not within its letter.
1. Lawful use and third-party rights
You must not use the Service:
- in breach of any applicable law or regulation, or for any unlawful, fraudulent or harmful purpose;
- to infringe, misappropriate or violate any copyright, trade mark, trade secret, patent, publicity, privacy, contractual or other right of any person;
- to obtain, reproduce, store, use, stream or distribute any Third-Party Game Content that you are not lawfully entitled to obtain and use in that way;
- to upload, share, link to or request any game files, archives, keys, cracks, serials or other copyrighted material belonging to third parties, whether in chat, profiles, maps or anywhere else on the Service;
- to submit any map, replay, image, text or other User Content that you do not have the right to submit.
2. Cheating and competitive integrity
You must not, and must not attempt to:
- use, develop, distribute or advertise any cheat, hack, bot, script, macro, automation, modified client, overlay, memory or network inspection tool, or other unauthorised software or hardware that gives or is intended to give any advantage, reveals information the game does not show you, or plays in your place;
- exploit bugs, glitches, desynchronisation or unintended behaviour, rather than reporting them to us;
- manipulate ratings, rankings, matchmaking, seasons or results in any way, including win trading, deliberate losing, boosting, playing on another person's account, letting another person play on yours, smurfing through multiple accounts, colluding with opponents, or arranging outcomes;
- deliberately disconnect, stall, lag, drop or otherwise disrupt games, or abuse pause, rejoin or forfeit functions;
- interfere with another player's connection, device or account, including any denial-of-service attack or attempt to discover another user's IP address or location;
- forge, tamper with or fabricate any replay, result, report or evidence;
- bet or wager on, or fix, any game or competition on the Service.
3. Behaviour towards others
You must not:
- harass, threaten, bully, stalk, intimidate, dox or incite harm against anyone;
- post or transmit anything hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit, violent, defamatory, obscene or otherwise objectionable, including in handles and profiles;
- sexualise, endanger or solicit minors in any way;
- impersonate any person or entity, including the Operator, moderators, professional players or rights holders, or falsely claim any affiliation;
- disclose anyone's personal data without their permission;
- send spam, advertising, solicitations, chain messages, phishing or malicious links;
- file false, abusive or mass reports, or otherwise misuse reporting and moderation functions;
- attempt to identify, locate, publicise or harass any person involved in operating the Service.
4. Security and technical integrity
You must not, and must not attempt to:
- probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Service, or breach or circumvent any security, authentication, anti-cheat, rate-limiting or access-control measure, except under a written authorisation from us;
- access accounts, data or systems that you are not authorised to access;
- introduce malware or any harmful code, or send malformed, excessive or automated traffic to any part of the Service, including the relay;
- scrape, crawl or bulk-extract data, or access the Service through any unofficial client, interface or automation;
- use the Service or its data to train or evaluate machine learning or artificial intelligence models, or to build a competing service;
- reverse engineer any part of the Service, except to the extent that mandatory law permits it despite this restriction;
- evade a suspension, ban or other restriction, including by creating new accounts or disguising your identity, device or network;
- create accounts by automated means, with false information or with disposable email addresses.
If you discover a security vulnerability, report it privately to [email protected], do not exploit it, and do not disclose it to anyone else until we confirm it has been fixed. We offer no bounty or reward unless we agree otherwise in writing.
5. Commercial use
Except as the Streaming and Content Creator Terms expressly permit, you must not use the Service for any commercial purpose without our prior written permission, including selling, renting or trading accounts, handles, ratings, boosting, coaching delivered through the Service, virtual items or access; running paid or sponsored tournaments on the Service; or advertising any product or service.
6. Enforcement
6.1 We may investigate any suspected breach and may take any action we consider appropriate, with or without notice, including: warnings; removing or editing content; renaming handles; muting; voiding or reversing results; adjusting, resetting or removing ratings, rankings, titles and rewards; disqualification and forfeiture of prizes; matchmaking restrictions; temporary or permanent suspension of accounts; device, network and address bans; reporting to law enforcement, rights holders or other platforms; and legal action.
6.2 We may act on the basis of automated detection, statistical analysis, replays, reports or any other information we consider reliable. We are not required to disclose our evidence or methods, to give reasons, or to offer an appeal. Penalties may be applied to every account that we believe is operated by or connected with the same person.
6.3 We have no obligation to monitor the Service or to enforce this Policy against any particular user, and we are not liable for the conduct of any user or for any failure or delay in enforcement. Not acting in one case is not a waiver of our right to act in another.
